New Manual for Unix ROLO/XPFC V3R1
|
| There have been a considerable number of
changes and refinements to the ROLO/XPFC package, some of which were fuelled and sponsored
by Xerox Corporation in the USA, but it remains fully upwards compatible |
| V3R1 no longer requires access to the C
Compiler |
|
| This completely reworked manual now
incorporates ALL previous manuals and supplements. If you have any of the older documents,
then please stop using them because there are many new and extended features in V3R1. |
|
| The ONLY exception to this amalgamation
of earlier documentation is the new VIPP support feature which is currently (May97) being
rolled-out as a controlled release V3R1 feature. Because of its early release status, and
inevitable further development, it is currently being covered by a separate supplement for
those users running Xerox DocuPrint systems |
|
| This manual is also available in electronic form as a MS Word 6 format document. It can even be downloaded (FoC) from our website. This has been made generally available so that users can acquire the manual, produce (edited ?) copies as required, and maybe even download it onto your PC's ......... or even onto Intranet/Internet sites. It's yours to do whatever you want ! |
Structure of the Manual
ROLO/XPFC is a "tool'' or an "enabler'' with which users can exploit the Xerox
laser, AND the UNIX operating system.
Initially the manual will serve as a tutorial on the facilities and opportunities, but once you become familiar with ROLO/XPFC the manual effectively becomes a reference document. As such, we have structured this manual so that it is easily used by both newcomers and experienced users.
The manual has been designed to be as easy to use as possible. Each chapter starts with a short explanation of the contents, the temptation to print in duplex has been resisted so that you can make (legal !) notes on the now blank left hand sheet. In Chapter 8 (the various Configurator File command specifications), each command is described in simple terms and there are plenty of worked examples and exploitation ideas.
The separate ROLO/XPFC "Guided Tour'' document serves as a rapid introduction and overview of the facilities, aims, and opportunities.
We welcome user feedback and comments ........ please use the Feedback Form at the end of this manual, good and or bad stuff, it's all welcome. You can also email us direct or even from the Feedback and Guestbook features on our website ................... Thanks.
The manual assumes that the reader is reasonably familiar with the
Xerox laser, and the terms and techniques that relate to it, all of which are
comprehensively described in readily available Xerox
literature.
The ROLO/XPFC V3R1 manual is a regular single (Windows) Word 6 document, it uses regular fonts like Arial & Monotype Sorts and is engineered for single sided European A4 paper size.
It's a multi-section document. It's 211 pages (including covers etc). It's got all the fonts embedded so what you see should be exactly like the "master".
Happy Reading !
