ROLO/XPFC Upgrade for OS/390Management Summary IBM is pushing heavily to get users to adopt OS/390 as the standard operating regime. As part of our collaboration project with Xerox Corp in the USA, ROLO/XPFC was upgraded for this new operating system during the 3rd quarter of 1996 and has been in live production use on a large number of installations in the USA since that time. The changes to ROLO/XPFC for OS/390 were straightforward because the JES2 component has not changed significantly from Version 5 Release 2.0. There are currently THREE releases of OS/390 available on general release, Release 1.1 thru Release 1.3, and ROLO/XPFC (online and offline) versions are available for both regimes. Work is scheduled to update ROLO/XPFC to OS/390 Release 1.4 early in 1st Qtr 1998. Only V3R3 of ROLO/XPFC was upgraded for use under OS/390, so if you are on an older version, then you should plan for this "no hassle" upgrade at the same time. Although V3R3 is a major release in terms of new facilities etc. it is fully upwards compatible with older versions of ROLO/XPFC and no upgrade problems should arise. For more details about V3R3, you can read Partner Briefing No 43, or check the website pages which provide equivalent details. |
